Case trimming is merely a few millimeters for the 40 S&W same cartridges. This short version of a big pistol cartridge was used in a medium/small handgun frame by Smith and Wesson when they did it. The powder charge, on the other hand, was not affected (despite a bit of pressure in the chamber).

Can a 40 S&W Shoot 9mm?

They are not interchangeable! 9mm and 40cal ammunition are unsuitable for each other and will clog. However, certain pistols allow swapping 40cal barrels for 9mm barrels. If you use this approach, you may need a 9mm magazine.

Is it Better to use Glock or Smith and Wesson?

The 380 ACP and Smith and Wesson M&PK are designed better than the Glock and look better when compared side by side. Nonetheless, it is more difficult to control than the Glock. Glock misses around 10% of the shots despite their closeness.
